Recently-added Eagles who are already on the regular-season roster bubble

The Eagles have already promised they'll continue adding to their roster. Nothing is promised for the new guys.

Well, we all said it. As good as this Philadelphia Eagles roster is, the 2024 NFL Draft represented another opportunity to improve. We crossed our fingers hoping they'd nail this class, and if they didn't, they most certainly came pretty close.

It doesn't get much better than adding a prospect with Quinyon Mitchell's ability without needing to trade up from the 22nd overall selection. That is unless we're discussing adding Cooper DeJean in Round 2. That too was as close as an organization can get to hitting a home run in professional football.

Philly has added some young weapons and Swiss army knives on both sides of the football. They followed a three-day selection meeting by rounding things out with intriguing UDFAs. Still, on a roster this good, there will certainly be casualties by the time we reach September.

Here are seven of the more notable new guys who are already going to have tough times making the roster.

While it's certainly too early to do so, we have all pieced together our imaginary depth charts. As has been the case under Howie Roseman, building a strong roster has been continual.

This team is stacked. Making the initial 53-man squad won't be easy. This is a nice mix of youth and veterans. No one is promised anything, especially these guys.

They're new additions but possibly already on the bubble. Keep an eye on them when we eventually arrive at the preseason.

Julian Okwara & Oren Burks, linebackers

Julian Okwara was signed on Valentines Day, Oren Burks on March 19th. They're potantially staring up the depth chart at everyone from Nolan Smith, Zack Baun, Jalyx Hunt, and Patrick Johnson (Okwara) to Devin White, Nakobe Dean, and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. (Burks).

Isaiah Rodgers & Tyler Hall, cornerback

The Philadelphia Eagles figure to keep six cornerbacks on the 53-man roster. Let's do the math here.

Darius Slay, James Bradberry Jr., Kelee Ringo, Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Avonte Maddox, Josh Jobe, Eli Ricks, Zech McPhearson, Mario Goodrich, and Tiawan Mullen are already on the roster. Make no mistake about it. Isaiah Rodgers and Tyler Hall certainly aren't promised anything.

P.J. Mustipher, interior defensive lineman

The interior of the Eagles' defensive line might be one of the more stacked areas of what's shaping out to be a strong 2024 roster. Jalen Carter... Jordan Davis... Milton Williams... Marlon Tuipulotu... Moro Ojomo... Noah Elliss... Thomas Booker... There won't be enough room on the roster for all of those guys, and P.J. Mustipher, another of the new guys, might be staring up the depth chart are all of them.

Will Grier, quarterback

Here's the skinny with Will Grier. Jalen Hurts is the franchise. Kenny Pickett is the backup. We could argue Grier is competing with Tanner McKee for the QB3 role.

Matt Hennessy, offensive linemen

We'd give the advantage to Tanner Mckee as he was a part of last year's draft class. Philly typically keeps three QBs. Grier will be here through the preseason, and he's probably out once we reach final cuts.

We end this with a Matt Hennessy mention. He may be added to this roster as a reserve on the Eagles O-line, but his natural position is at center. As you know, Philly already has Cam Jurgens.

He, Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Lane Johnson, and Tyler Steen are shoo-ins to make the roster. Fred Johnson and Mekhi Becton (both here because of Jeff Stoutland's affinity for them) both have realistic shots of making this team.

The head count there brings us to seven guys. Let's say Philly keeps ten O-linemen, a very real possibility, we probably need to include the draftees, Trevor Keegan and Dylan McMahon. That means Hennessy is in a fistfight with Brett Toth, Le'Raven Clark, Darian Kinnard, Lecitus Smith, and Jason Poe for one spot on the roster.

That being said, Hennessy's chances of making the roster have decreased from where they were about a week ago.
