Saluting several Eagles that brought the hammer versus the Commanders in Week 8
Here's a tip of the cap to a handful of Eagles that brought the hammer versus the rival Commanders.
The Eagles were outgained by the Commanders (472 yards for Washington compared to 374 for Philly), Washington held onto the ball longer. They turned the ball over less often. They racked up more first downs, but here's what the Commanders didn't do... outscore them.
A hard-fought affair ended with a 38-31 final score. Here's a tip of the cap to several of our Birds.
1. A.J. Brown, wide receiver
After winning NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors following his Week 7 performance, A.J. Brown was even more impressive in Week 8.
He racked up eight receptions, 130 yards receiving, and two phenomenal-looking TD receptions. If he isn't the offensive player of the week again, there needs to be an investigation.
2. DeVonta Smith, wide receiver
DeVonta Smith has had a couple of tough weeks, so it was nice to see him cook versus the Commanders. In total, he notched seven receptions for 99 yards, and he scored a TD.
Say what you will about that fourth-down catch, but it was nice to see him shake loose for six points.
3. Jalen Hurts, quarterback
It isn't easy for an NFL quarterback to throw four TD passes under normal circumstances. Doing so with a bone bruise is tremendously daunting we'd imagine.
Jalen Hurts completed 76% of his pass attempts. He threw for 319 yards and tossed a quartet of TD passes. You won't hear any complaints from us!
Let's talk about a couple of Eagles defenders and tip the cap to a future Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee that we still can't believe is on our side now.
