Saquon Barkley offers a misguided theory about his return to MetLife with Eagles

We've enjoyed Saquon Barkley's time with the Eagles so far, but he may have missed the mark with this theory.

Everyone once in a while, things cross our paths in relation to the Philadelphia Eagles that we should ignore but we can't. It's like driving past a traffic accident. The temptation to slow down and be nosey always seems to take over.

Stop us if you've heard the following this week. Saquon Barkley is five games into his Eagles tenure. The next stop on their journey together is a trip to New Jersey to face the New York Giants.

We found our way to an ESPN story written by Jordan Raanan and Tim McManus. You won't believe what Philly's tailback is saying.

Saquon Barkley doesn't believe he'll be booed when he returns to MetLife Stadium to play the Giants as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.

There's no need to restart phones or computers. What you're reading is correct. Saquon doesn't think Giants fans care any more that he's an Eagle.

"Maybe I'm naive, but I think it's over. That chapter's closed. I truly don't care no more, and I'm pretty sure fans don't care no more."

Yeah... That might be a tad naive. Have you ever met a Giants fan

Tiki Barber issued a stern warning about him trading Giants blue for Midnight Green. Barkley defected anyway. We later saw Barber offer an olive branch after nearly starting a war of words on social media. He hasn't suited up for the G-Men since January 7th, 2007. And, we're supposed to believe fans will be tolerant of what they view as betrayal.

It would be one thing if he found his way to Denver or Las Vegas. He joined one of Big Blue's biggest rivals. Stories were written about his beautiful daughter asking if that meant her father 'might win now'.

We love you Saquon, but you're getting booed on Sunday. There's no way around that. You probably would have been better off saying something stale like 'This is no different than any other game'.

We wouldn't have believed that either, but at least we'd understand his thinking in saying so. Oh well... Here's our suggestion. Ball out during this homecoming. It won't matter how Giants fans feel or what they say if Philly is on the right side of the game's final score.
