Well, it didn't take very long for the Philadelphia Eagles to find the new run game coordinator to replace Jeff Stoutland after his stunning departure from the franchise.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported the Eagles will be hiring Green Bay Packers wide receivers coach Ryan Mahaffey to be the new run game coordinator and tight ends coach. Mahaffey and Mannion worked together in Green Bay over the last two years, with Mannion handling the quarterbacks and Mahaffey coaching the receivers.

Since 2021, Mahaffey has coached with the Packers in multiple positions. He was previously the offensive coordinator at Northern Iowa in two different stints.

Eagles hire Ryan Mahaffey as the run game coordinator and tight ends coach

Stoutland had been the Eagles' run game coordinator since 2018 and has mostly done a great job. It was reported that he had been stripped of that title sometime during the 2025 season, as the running game struggled for Philly.

Mahaffey has some big shoes to fill, as Stoutland was beloved and did a great job as the run game coordinator. The Eagles only finished outside the top five in rushing one time, and that was last year.

Another interesting challenge Mahaffey could be facing is a brand-new tight ends room to deal with. Top tight ends Dallas Goedert, Grant Calcaterra, and Kylen Granson are all free agents, so the Eagles could have all brand new tight ends. Many draft experts have the Eagles taking a tight end in the first round to replace Goedert.

While the tight end position will get some attention, Mahaffey will have more eyes on him for what kind of running game he can scheme up. The Packers were a good rushing attack with Josh Jacobs in the backfield, so Saquon Barkley should have the same kind of success.

Mannion has certainly made many changes to the coaching staff, with more hires to come.
