New Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Hollywood Brown is set to become the fourth player in franchise history to wear the number zero, but the story behind everyone who has worn it is an interesting one.

Current Chicago Bears running back D'Andre Swift was the first to do it back in 2023. After that point, it was Bryce Huff in 2024, and last season it was Joshua Uche.

It seems very obvious who the best player ever to wear the jersey number is, but the history behind all the players who wore it is fascinating. There's a very easy choice for who was the best, but has the number been successful since the NFL allowed players to wear it?

Looking at the number zero and who wore it best with the Eagles

Swift is the easy choice as the best Eagles player ever to wear the number zero. In his only season with the franchise back in 2023, he rushed for 1,049 yards and five touchdowns, which was a career high for him at that time. He also caught 39 passes for 214 yards and one touchdown, landing his only Pro Bowl selection.

Huff was a disaster after the Eagles paid him big money to be the pass rusher they needed after Haason Reddick's departure. During the 2024 season, he missed five games to injury and recorded13 tackles, four quarterback hits, three tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one forced fumble.

Uche ended up being Huff's replacement last year, as it was an up-and-down season for him as he played in 12 games. He finished with 23 tackles, three quarterback hits, two tackles for loss, one sack, and one pass deflection. Uche was at one point leading the team in pressure until the Eagles traded for Jaelan Phillips, after which he was reduced to just special teams work.

Overall, all three players who wore the number zero each played only one season for the team. Swift and Uche went into free agency without being re-signed, and Huff was traded to the San Francisco 49ers.

Brown has a chance to make the number his own since none of the other three Eagles were able to, but it feels as though the potential of another one-year run could happen. Eagles fans can only hope that Brown is better than what Uche and Huff have done over the last two seasons. At least Swift was a solid contributor to the Eagles in 2023.
