No Philadelphia Eagles player has been through the wringer this offseason more than quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Before last season began, Hurts was considered a top-10 quarterback, and debates were around whether he was elite after leading the Eagles to the Super Bowl. Then the 2025 season happened, and everything seemed to have changed.

Hurts completed over 64% of his passes for 3,224 yards and a career-high 25 touchdowns to six interceptions, adding another 421 yards on the ground and eight touchdowns. That was enough to earn him a third Pro Bowl selection, but the Eagles' offense finished in the bottom 15 in all major statistical categories, and the team got booted in the Wild Card Round.

That led to a long seven months of Hurts taking criticism after criticism for being "uncoachable," changing plays in the huddle, and failing to make all the throws. NFL personnel ranked him as the 17th-best quarterback in the NFL in 2026, a ranking that was the last straw of what appears to be a revenge tour starting up.

Jalen Hurts has something to prove in 2026, and it all starts at training camp

It's wild to have all this doubt about Hurts when all he has done in his career is win games. He's won nearly 70% of his starts and has taken the Eagles to the Super Bowl twice, winning one with a Super Bowl MVP to add to his trophy case.

This training camp feels very different from the other ones Hurts has attended because there is more doubt about him than ever before. A lot of that doubt is coming from the organization that he is playing for.

The revenge tour idea truly does begin at training camp as Hurts has something to prove to the Eagles. There were reports that Hurts was not happy about the fact that he didn't get a ton of support from the organization. That's enough fuel for the franchise quarterback to take it to his own team first before going all out against the rest.

Everyone understands at this point that since the organization did not do anything with his contract that Hurts has something to prove. He needs to show them that he is adaptable to new offenses and can grow as a passer.

So far, OTAs did not do Hurts any favors as he struggled throughout the three weeks. That is expected since it is early on, but it did not make fans feel any better about him working with first-time play-caller, Sean Mannion, and the complex scheme he brought to Philly. It will work for Hurts, but he needs time to learn the system.

It feels like an odd thing to say, but Hurts has dealt with this kind of thing his own career. This is a moment that Hurts needs after a rough OTAs to shut down the doubters in Philly first before taking the revenge tour nationwide.
