3) Remember Todd Bowles?
Yeah, the former Eagles defensive coordinator who built a dangerous defense in Arizona is now going to be the head coach of the New York Jets. Why is it that these assistants who were basically worthless in Philadelphia do so well elsewhere? Is this some bizarre byproduct of coaching under Andy Reid?
4) Oh, and Jason Garrett…
signed a new five-year deal to coach the Dallas Cowboys, as detailed in that Bowles report. No surprise there. Jerry Jones loves that guy.
5) Marcus Mariota makes it official
The Heisman Trophy winner and coveted quarterback is coming out a year early, declaring his intention to enter the NFL draft. Let the rampant speculation begin about the Eagles and head coach Chip Kelly figuring out a way to land the Oregon standout.
I, for one, do not think the Eagles should trade up for Mariota unless the deal would only be Nick Foles and their No. 1 pick. Anything involving multiple picks and/or players is too high a price to pay for unproven talent. Plus, I think Foles is a guy you can build a winner around.

6) Jeremy Maclin will not play in Pro Bowl
Although, should anyone actually play in the Pro Bowl? As detailed here, Maclin is skipping the glorified exhibition.
I think this is good news for the Philadelphia Eagles for a lot of reasons. For one thing, the Pro Bowl makes me nervous with how it exposes players to injuries. For another, a free agent to be like Maclin, if he was really thinking about testing those free agent waters, would be well served by playing in this game and showing off his skills.
This could be another indication that Maclin really, really wants to remain in Philadelphia.
