Let’s face it, hitting on later picks is often times about getting lucky. That’s why guys selected on day three are usually guys who appear to have high upside but are still raw. Gwacham fits that bill. A converted wide receiver, Gwacham has intriguing size 6’5″, 246 lbs. with 34 3/8″ arms and insane athletic ability to be an interesting option to take a chance on.
Gwacham’s quickness allows him to win off the line of scrimmage and get to the quarterback in a hurry. That along with his movement skills are exactly what Chip Kelly and Bill Davis are looking for in their outside linebackers. Gwacham however is fairly new to the position so he’d need time to add strength to hold up against stronger competition in the NFL. Luckily he’ll have that luxury in Philadelphia with Connor Barwin and Brandon Graham, presumed to be starters and last year’s first round pick, Marcus Smith II possibly rotating in at both spots.
