DeMarco Murray, Running Back

It was funny to hear Monday Night Football commentator Jon Gruden practically blast head coach Chip Kelly and his “college” scheme and how running back DeMarco Murray doesn’t fit the offense. A couple minutes later, Murray is running through big holes and slicing the New York Giants defense to shreds. People were quick to make memes and give hot takes about Murray and his lack of early success with the team, but now that it seems like the Philadelphia Eagles as a whole are finally starting to hit their stride, the jokes have stopped and the takes aren’t as hot.

Murray has averaged 97.5 yards a game on 4.75 yards a carry the last two games. DeMarco is running hard and punishing defenders who take the challenge of tackling him. People were questioning the fit of Murray’s running style, but I think the line is just blocking better. Defenders aren’t in the back field anymore and there are actual holes to run through. Murray has looked like the rushing champ in the past two games and lets hope it continues this week.

The Carolina Panthers are 12th in the league in rush defense giving up a shade under 100 yards per game. The Philadelphia Eagles need to get the run game going like they have been the past two games. If Murray has another big game, the Philadelphia Eagles will win the game I guarantee it. If the Eagles can have success on the ground, this game will be in the bag for the Eagles. A win will put the Eagles at 4-3 heading into the bye week. This is a must win game, and it starts by feeding DeMarco Murray constantly.
