ITI: How far away is Chicago from actually taking the NFC North from the reigning franchises, the Vikings and the Packers? Heck, what’s needed for this team to overtake the Lions?

Bear Goggles On: That’s a loaded question that really has two parts – when can the Bears be good again and when will the rest of the division come back down to Earth?  It seemed like this would be the year for the Bears to take a step forward, with Aaron Rodgers and Sam Bradford getting hurt while the Bears defense was ascending.  Unfortunately, the Bears are still nowhere close to being ready for primetime.  The offense really only has Jordan Howard going for it with not enough skill position players to make a difference on Sundays.  On the other side of the ball, they’re definitely closer, but still need to show more consistency and can’t have the blown plays that an inexperienced group still has a tendency to experience.

The Bears are close, but there is no rebuilding like in other sports.  In the NFL, you have a couple of seasons to turn it around.  You can go from worst to first in the blink of an eye, so you never really know when everything will fall into place.
