The Eagles get their first playoff win since 2008 with Foles

Before 2017, the Eagles haven’t had their fair share of playoff appearances. In fact, the last time they made it to the Wild Card round was in 2013. The starting quarterback was Foles when he was in his first stint with the Eagles. He didn’t exactly have the sharpest game back then, so it only made fans more skeptical this time around.

The final week of the regular season was a madhouse in Philadelphia. Despite being the number one seed in the NFC, everybody was calling for the current starting quarterback to get benched. You heard that right. Eagles fans wanted Nick Foles benched for a second-season quarterback named Nate Sudefeld, who closed out Week 17 with zero touchdown passes in three quarters.

Thankfully, Doug Pederson was not open to trying new things for the playoffs. He stuck to his guns and put his faith in Foles. It paid off well as the Eagles secured their first playoff win in almost ten years. Foles might not have had the flashiest performance in the divisional round. But it was decent enough to advance on. And what he was able to do beyond round two was nothing short of incredible.
