Jermaine Carter, Maryland

Jermaine “Pee-Wee” Carter is a 6’2″ 213 lbs linebacker coming out of Maryland. From the beginning of his college career, Carter was gaining some massive potential during his redshirt season. When he finally started suiting up on gameday in 2014, the Terrapins’ knew that Carter was going to be a high-end contributor on their defense.

From his Sophomore season to the end of his college days, Carter started all 37 games at middle linebacker for Maryland, totaling up 294 tackles. When it was all said and done for Carter’s NCAA career, he ended up becoming the fifth player since 1969 to lead Maryland’s defense in tackles for three consecutive seasons. Talk about packing on the numbers.

Carter saw a dip in his numbers in 2017, but 90 total tackles still doesn’t look bad on paper. Unfortunately, on the game tape, it was due to missing a noticeable amount of tackles. Coming into the NFL, Carter may have to earn his spot on special teams before being considered a full-time defender. Does that scream Philadelphia Eagles, or what?
