There doesn’t appear to be any downtime at the Novacare Complex. Just this week, the Philadelphia Eagles did a little shuffling of the front office.

We’ve known for quite some time the Philadelphia Eagles‘ vice president of player personnel, Joe Douglas’ gig in Philly wasn’t going to be a permanent one. Then, ‘The Birds’ marched their way through the 2017 season. Shortly thereafter, Douglas’ name started getting tossed around in GM conversations faster than an Eagles fan could say ‘Dallas Sucks’.

We’re assured that Douglas will be around for the 2018 season. Still, many Eagles fans were wondering whether or not it was time to start thinking about investing in an insurance policy. According to Phillyvoice.com’s Matt Mullin and the team’s official website, ‘The Birds’ are doing just that. They’ve done so by naming Andy Weidl director of player personnel.

Weidl’s no stranger to the Eagles organization.

More from Inside the Iggles

Weidl’s already been getting familiar with the comings and goings of the Novacare Complex. He’s been around since 2016, serving as the, then, assistant director of player personnel. He also figures to step into Douglas’ role when he leaves. The two spent a healthy amount of time with the Baltimore Ravens.

He now answers only to Douglas, the Eagles executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman, and, of course, Eagles chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie.

Let’s get you caught up on the other hires.

In addition to Weidl’s promotion, there have been others. Jake Rosenberg will now be Philly’s vice president of football administration. Jon Ferrari’s now the director of football operations. The role of team director of travel and football logistics has been filled by Dan Ryan.

In the scouting department, it’s been learned that Ian Cunningham will have Alan Wolking serve under him as the assistant director of college scouting. Patrick Stewart (no this isn’t the guy from X-Men) is a national scout. Shawn Heinlen, Ryan Myers and Jim Ward will serve, respectively as the team’s southwest, west coast and northeast scouts.

The roles of player personnel coordinator and scouting assistant have been filled by Casey Weidl and Lee DiValerio. It appears that Philly’s preparing themselves for the day that Douglas accepts a GM position with another franchise, a wise move seeing as how they may not be able to hold other teams off for too much longer.
