Philadelphia Eagles: 5 players to watch against the Pittsburgh Steelers
Nate Sudfeld, QB
Seeing as though Carson Wentz and Nick Foles will not be a part of the Eagles preseason opener, Nate Sudfeld will start us off under center. Some may dread the fact that the Eagles are kicking off the preseason with their third-string quarterback, but Eagles fans should actually be kind of excited. Just think about it, last year we suffered through Matt McGloin. This year, we get a young guy who has actually displayed some legitimate upside over the past year or so.
Sudfeld will see the most game action that he has ever seen with the Eagles. Maybe even the most work action he has seen in his entire career. Thursday night should give the Eagles a good look at their future backup for Wentz, considering that Foles will more-than-likely be out of Philly after the 2018 season.
Around this time last year, Sudfeld was attempting to make the Washington Redskins roster. After a decent preseason, the Skins’ still decided that they haven’t seen enough from the young passer. That led to the Eagles bringing Sudfeld on to hold the clipboard and be Wentz’s sidekick on the sidelines. Now, Sudfeld has a prime opportunity on his hands to improve his game as he will most likely play around two or three quarters against the Steelers.
