Greg Ward, WR

Here’s a name that hasn’t garnered too much buzz over the course of the offseason. Last season, quarterback-turned-receiver, Greg Ward missed the final roster and spent 2017 on the practice squad. Once again, Ward is working on cracking the final 53-man roster. Ever since Ward entered the NFL, it has been an uphill battle. The former Houston quarterback switched positions and evidently impressed his coaches during his first camp. Unfortunately, the talent that the Eagles had on board was just significantly better.

Although we haven’t heard his name too much, the Eagles continue to see something in the second-year receiver. As they prepared to take on the Patriots this week, the Eagles had Ward in with the first-team offense getting some reps. Granted, Nelson Agholor and Alshon Jeffery have been out with injuries. But still, the fact that the Eagles chose Ward to fill in over the handful of veterans and other young guys on board says something positive.

The Eagles could realistically begin the regular season without Agholor and Jeffery. So, they need to make sure that they know who could potentially fill the void of their starters as week one approaches. This week will be a massive test for Ward. He will most likely seek some work from the slot, and there shouldn’t be any reason why he doesn’t have a significantly better preseason than last year.
