Round 4, Pick 127

By this time, the NFL Draft would surpass an entire round without the Eagles making a pick. Thanks to that spontaneous midseason trade for Golden Tate, the Eagles will be without a third-round selection in 2019. It’s not a huge deal, but don’t be surprised if the Eagles found their way back into the third round if they really love a prospect there. In this case, though, they will wait patiently for the 127th pick to take Miami’s defensive end, Joe Jackson.

Ever since his arrival in Miami, Jackson bulked up to as much as 30-pounds. Unfortunately, it affected his game in a bit of a negative way. The great part about that though is that Jackson was still a solid defensive end while playing at the college level. As he attempts to take on the pros, there’s a good chance that Jackson is going to have to cut that weight to get some of his explosiveness back.

The Eagles would be drafting Jackson for his projected upside. He has the look, but he isn’t the flashiest defensive end on the field. Kind of reminds me of Derek Barnett’s qualities – Not the fastest, but is somehow a handful for tight ends and defensive lineman. Again, the Eagles don’t have a strapping need for a defensive end in 2019, but by 2020, the unit may look weak in depth. So they don’t need to take somebody with a high-priority pick, but Jackson in the fourth round could be some nice value.
