The Defensive side of the ball

Daeshon Hall, DE

Daeshon Hall is not a lock to make the Eagles — but another strong performance on Thursday should pretty much solidify himself a spot on the final 53-man roster. Through two weeks, Hall leads the Eagles in sacks with three total. Plus, he caused a turnover last week as well.

The way Hall has been playing is exactly what a former third-rounder should look like. Maybe he just couldn’t hit his stride with the Panthers, but the change of scenery in Philly is helping him stay motivated. We don’t know. What we do know is, we really like this guy so far.

Nathan Gerry, LB

Right now, there’s quite a battle going on at the linebacker position. With Kamu Grugier-Hill still hurt, the Eagles have to make sure they keep the right guys on board. Over the last two seasons, they have talked about having confidence in Nate Gerry to step his game up, but so far he’s playing pretty hot and cold. Sometimes he looks decent. Other times, he’s not.

Depth will be key at linebacker this year considering some of the injuries the Eagles currently have. However, they need to make sure that the depth on board is ready to be productive when needed. So far, Gerry is still just a big question mark for the Birds.
