This one’s obvious. Carson Wentz is the team MVP, and honestly, deserves some consideration for league MVP. If you can’t see that, then, we don’t know what to tell you. He’s the most valuable player on his team, and there aren’t many people in the game that meant more to their team than Wentz meant to the Eagles in 2019.

If that statement is meant with any opposition or disregard, the definition of ‘value’ needs to be changed.

Okay, screw it. Let’s talk about the numbers one more time. Wentz ended the 2019 campaign with 4,039 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. No other Eagles quarterback in franchise history has ever thrown for at least 4,000 yards in a season. No NFL quarterback has ever thrown for 4.000 yards when he didn’t have any of his receivers haul in more than 500 yards receiving.

He was the best in the NFL in the fourth quarter and in overtime over the course of the final four games of the season. Wentz has the most pass completions through the first 24 games of any NFL quarterback in league history (540). He has the most consecutive games with one or more touchdown passes with one interception or fewer. The streak currently stands at 22. Matt Ryan had 21 from December of 2015 to September of2017.

Wentz is the franchise record holder for season completion percentage. That includes quarterbacks that have six professional starts or more (69.6% in 2018). He’s the owner of the team record for most consecutive games with a touchdown pass (19 and counting). He’s the franchise’s record holder for the most touchdown passes in a season (33 in 2017) and the most pass completions in a season (388 in 2019).

Is he elite? Absolutely, he is. Most of us know that and are just waiting for the rest of you to catch up.
