Philadelphia Eagles 15 best wins from 2010 to 2019
These days, Nick Foles has a statue sitting outside of ‘The Linc’, and he’s known as ‘Saint Nick’, but Philadelphia Eagles fans have long known that he was special. It just took the rest of the world a while to catch up.
One of the initial signs of that came back in 2013 in Oakland versus the Raiders, Nick Foles tied an NFL record in this game with seven touchdown passes as the Eagles beat the Raiders by a 49–20 margin. Oh, and by the way, he sat out of the fourth quarter. Imagine what he would have done had he played.
It’s hard to believe that he was traded, but that was one of those shrewd business moves by Chip Kelly. Things work out the way that they do for a reason. If Kelly never trades Foles, the Eagles probably never end up with Carson Wentz or Doug Pederson. They definitely don’t have Sam Bradford to trade for a draft pick (one that was eventually used to select Derek Barnett).
With all of that being said, trading Foles eventually worked out in the end, but Week 9 of 2013 helps remind us that Foles wasn’t just a good quarterback that got hot. He was a great quarterback who could have been even better had he been in the right situation.
