4. Malcolm Jenkins gets his deal, but Rodney McLeod is replaced.

In 2019’s regular season, Malcolm Jenkins led all Eagles defenders with 81 tackles. 63 of those were solo, and six resulted in a loss of yardage. In addition to that, he added 2.5 sacks, eight passes defended, four forced fumbles, and another nine hits on opposing quarterbacks.

As he’s done in five of his six seasons in Philly, ’27’ played one-hundred percent of the defensive snaps. The only time that he missed any action was in a Week 17 game in 2017 versus the Dallas Cowboys, where Philly rested their starters in preparation for the postseason.

Sure, the Eagles have stated more than once that they want to get younger, but none of that applies to the ageless wonder. He’s also stated that he won’t return to Philadelphia under his contract as its currently constructed. Expect the Eagles brass to do the right thing. He’ll get a deal, one that will allow him to finish his career in Philly.

Expect their quest to add some youth to begin with the dismissal of guys like Rodney McLeod. He played well this past season, and he’s good when he’s healthy. Still, the ‘Birds; are going to have options in free agency who are younger, and there will be some talent in the draft that they can use one of those picks on.
