. . . Josh Uche, Linebacker. . player. 811

Typically, you don’t write these types of stories in the first person, but I have to here. I own a copy of EA Sports’ Madden 20, and I’m currently in the second season of my franchise mode. I picked up Josh Uche in the second round, and he’s currently working on a defensive rookie of the year nod.

Now, that may not wind up happening in the real world. Then again, who knows? Uche is a six-foot-two, 250-pound outside linebacker that could end the part of the revolving door that’s existed at Philly’s second level for what seems like forever.

There’s no guarantee that he’s an upgrade from Kamu Grugier-Hill, but there’s no guarantee that he isn’t either. In 2019, Uche worked his butt off and wound up with 35 tackles, 8.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and two pass breakups. Scouts see him as a Day 2 prospect and a Round 2 or a Round 3 guy.

He’s undersized at six-foot-two and 250 pounds. He may be better suited to play the outside linebacker role in the 3-4 scheme, but a team that is as intelligent as Philly is should be a way to work him into the scheme if he finds his way to this proud organization.
