Long shot or not, if the Eagles have any chance at signing Shaquil Barrett to help fill their need at linebacker, Philadelphia should take it.

To say Barrett displayed a career season in 2019 with the Buccaneers would be a huge understatement after watching the Colorado State product finish with a career high 19.5 sacks.

When taking into consideration that Barrett previously recorded just 14 sacks in five seasons wit the Denver Broncos before joining Tampa Bay last year, it’s safe to say the star defender is in for a major pay raise after playing last year on a one-year deal.

As for whether the Eagles will be able to afford Barrett since there will most likely be numerous teams willing to spend top dollar, well this is where things could get a little tricky.

While Philadelphia certainly has the money to spend on a talented player like Barrett, they also don’t want to invest all their chips on one individual since there are other areas in need of improvement as well.

But if Barrett’s asking price were to end up being in the range of what the Eagles are willing to spend along with the chance for him to play for a legitimate contender, well this scenario could potentially work out great for both parties.
