Could the Eagles benefit in a big way from signing Alec Ogletree after things failed to work out for the veteran linebacker during the two years spent with the Giants?

More from Inside the Iggles

Back in 2018 when the Giants acquired Ogletree from the Rams, the hope was his presence and leadership would help bring out the best in some of the other members on defense for New York.

If only the Giants as a team didn’t struggle so much over the previous two years, chances are things would have turned out better for Ogletree in New York.

But at least now that he’s a free agent, the Georgia product has the opportunity to choose a team he prefers, whether it happens to be the Eagles or someone else.

Once again, Philadelphia finds themselves in need of help at linebacker this offseason, and the position became even more of a need when the team decided to make the difficult move of parting ways with Nigel Bradham.

Ogletree is far from the effective level Bradham and some of the other current linebackers are on, but his experience alone makes this worth the consideration.

Also, whenever the Eagles can sign a former player of a rival, it always adds extra fuel to the fire when the teams happen to meet twice during the regular season, which could be the case here with the Giants.
