. . Hunter Henry, tight end. . player. 54.

Truthfully, Hunter Henry makes sense for this Philadelphia Eagles team.

To trade Zach Ertz or not to trade Zach Ertz. That is the question. If you’re reading this, it’s probably likely that you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan. If you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan, it’s doubtful that you need any refresher courses on what’s been going on with 86, his stalled contract negotiations, or the fact that his sudden dip in production leads many to believe that he isn’t giving himself any leverage if contract talks were to resume at any point soon.

Philly exercised an option in Ertz’s contract, so if they want him to be, he’ll be in Philly for the remainder of the 2020 season and next year during the 2021 season. If they move him, it may be via trade. If that happens, they’ll need to find a replacement.

There are several options available to the Birds in both the 2021 NFL free agency period at the tight end position. Then again, if they want to, they could find Ertz’s replacement in the next NFL Draft.

If signing a veteran is the plan, Hunter Henry is as good an option as any. He’s six-foot-five. He tips the scales at 250 pounds. He’s hauled in 173 receptions for 2,096 yards and 19 touchdowns during a career that has stretched 50 games with 44 starts. Signing him is probably going to be less expensive than an extension for Ertz. Write his name down if you haven’t already.
