Grading Philadelphia Eagles first-round selections during Roseman’s era

2020: WR Jalen Reagor, Philadelphia Eagles
It really is tough to evaluate the Jalen Reagor selection by Howie Roseman. After all, it’s only been a year and while the TCU product did underwhelm in his rookie season, it was a tough season for the offense as a whole.
COVID-19 made life extra hard for rookies as they had a peculiar training camp with no preseason. Adversaries will point out the fact that many rookies made a significant impact in 2020 (yes, Justin Jefferson), but these rookies didn’t have to deal with the Eagles’ offensive struggles.
Were there better players available at 21? Of course there were. But this doesn’t mean that fans should already label Jalen Reagor as a bust. With fewer moving parts at quarterback and a full offseason, Reagor will be given a fair opportunity to succeed in 2021.
While we’re cutting the wide receiver a lot of slack, we still have to grade Howie Roseman for the pick. In 11 games, Reagor caught 31 passes for 396 yards and one touchdown. While he also recorded a punt return touchdown, it’s clear that the former first-rounder struggled in his rookie year.
We’ll give Roseman the benefit of the doubt here. Reagor is still an explosive player who has yet to reach his potential as a pass-catcher. The Justin Jefferson selection just one pick after him surely leaves a salty taste in the mouths of Philadelphia Eagles fans, but there’s nothing that can be done about the past. Grade: C+
