How many times can we say the Philadelphia Eagles got a steal in Round 5?
The answer to the above question is simple. Calling Kenny Gainwell a steal never gets old, but if you’re already tired of hearing it, here’s some bad news. That won’t go away. Five years from now, we’ll still be talking about this guy falling to the 150th-overall selection and how unbelievable it is that it happened.
Ten years from now, hopefully, we’ll be discussing Mr. Gainwell in the same way that we discuss Jason Kelce, as one of the great Eagles that Philly, once upon a time, landed on the last day of the selection meeting. It’s too early to make that claim now but mark those words.
The Philadelphia Eagles currently have Gainwell, Miles Sanders, Boston Scott, Adrian Killins Jr., Kerryon Johnson, Jordan Howard, Elijah Holyfield, and Jason Huntley on the roster, so when mandatory minicamp and training camp begin, Gainwell will be the low man on the totem pole. By the time we reach August, however, don’t be surprised when Killins, Johnson, Huntley, Holyfield, and maybe even Howard are all staring up at him on the team’s depth chart.
