Eagles vs Detroit: 10 Lions that can ruin Week 8 other than Jared Goff
5 Lions that can give the Eagles fits in Week 8 (offense)
After watching the Los Angeles Rams draft Jared Goff with the first-overall selection in 2016, one spot before the Philadelphia Eagles drafted Carson Wentz, the Birds’ first two meetings went according to plan.
Despite losing Wentz in Week 13 of the 2017 season, Philly won a shootout and a division title. Then, one year later, in Week 15, the Birds won again in L.A. as underdogs on Sunday Night Football.
Goff notched his first win over the midnight green a season ago, in a game in which the Eagles made him look like Joe Montana. He completed 20 of 27 passes for 267 yards and three touchdowns as the Rams beat the Eagles by a 37-19 margin.
A week ago, Goff pushed his former team to the limit but fell short, but he’s fully capable of carving up this Eagles team. Put a huge asterisk by his name. Here are five other Lions on the offensive side of the ball that you’ll want to watch as well.
1. Penei Sewell, left tackle
The left tackle that everyone wanted in the most recent draft, even though most teams knew they had no shot of landing him. It’s Penei Sewell’s job to protect Goff’s blindside.
2. Amon-Ra St. Brown, wide receiver
Amon-Ra St. Brown hasn’t reached the end zone yet in 2021 but has 24 receptions for 204 yards on the campaign. Let’s hope he doesn’t get into a groove in Week 8.
3. T.J. Hockenson, tight end
T.J. Hockenson was a limited participant in practice for the Lions on Wednesday and Thursday. If he plays, he’ll give the Eagles linebackers, who can’t cover anyone, a lot of trouble.
4. D’Andre Swift, running back
Also a limited participant on Wednesday and Thursday, D’Andre Swift hasn’t been ruled out yet. He leads Detroit in carries and receptions.
5. Kalif Raymond, wide receiver
Kalif Ramond has 334 receiving yards and two touchdowns on the season. Keep an eye out for him.
