Potential Eagles prospect Derek Stingley, cornerback

As of right now, it feels like former LSU Tigers’ standout Derek Stingley will be the first cornerback taken during the 2022 NFL Draft. He hasn’t played much during the past two seasons, ten to be exact, but he’s seen as a top-16 prospect by many draft pundits.

Even with three first-round draft choices, with the success that Philadelphia, the Miami Dolphins, and Indianapolis have had, it’s doubtful that any of Philly’s picks will be that high.

Don’t bank on Stingley winding up in an Eagles jersey, but if other guys rise and he falls, he’s a nice addition for Philadelphia’s secondary.

Ahmad ‘Sauce’ Gardner might be the second corner off of the board which means he may not be on the board when Philly is on the clock either, but if he is, he’s a no-brainer. With his talent, he’d upgrade the Eagles’ secondary immediately.

In 32 career games at the collegiate level, he racked up 99 total tackles, including 68 of the solo variety, to go along with 5.5 tackles for a loss of yardage, 3.5 sacks, nine interceptions, 16 pass breakups, and two pass breakups.
