Sub-radar, mid-round linebackers Eagles should watch at Senior Bowl
Potential Eagles draft prospect JoJo Domann, Nebraska
Heading into this Senior Bowl, it’s doubtful that there are any NFL teams that see JoJo Domann as one of the top 15 linebacker prospects on their draft board. He needs a nice showing in Mobile as many of his draft grades have him going anywhere from Round 5 to Round 7.
Overall, he’s been solid for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. His senior season, one that doubles as his fifth season at the collegiate level in total (after a shortened campaign in 2020) was his best from a statistical standpoint.
He tallied 71 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, three pass breakups, and two forced fumbles in 2021. If selected by an NFL team, it’s possible that he can be a nice depth piece and special-teams contributor who has the opportunity to grow in a defense.
Potential Eagles draft prospect Jesse Luketa, Penn State
Eagles fans all look at the Penn State Nittany Lions with mixed emotions. There was some interest in Micah Parsons before Philly settled on DeVonta Smith, which was the right move. They found something promising by selecting Miles Sanders in 2019. They got nothing by selecting Shareef Miller in Round 4 of that same draft.
Almost three years later, the Nittany Lions are, again, sending some quality talent to the NFL, particularly at the linebacker position.
Brandon Smith should go early on Day 2 of the draft. His teammate, Jesse Luketa should get some looks around the middle of the selection meeting. The former could be one of the first five linebackers taken. The latter will play at the Senior Bowl and needs a nice showing after being solid but far from dominant in 2022.
