Nick Sirianni took some time to discuss how proud he is of his defense.

Well of course the defense has to get some love, right? Once the conversation shifted, topics like the leadership we’ve seen from Darius Slay, Nick Sirianni’s confusion about how he’s never been a team captain before the 2022 season, and of course, Slay’s ability.

Coach described Slay as not only a great football player on the field, but also an incredible person outside of the game. Big Play was praised by his coach for having zero fear, both on the field and in the locker room, and for being a huge helping hand for the younger players looking to come into their own.

Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham took center stage in the conversation next. Each has been with the Eagles for over a decade, and their presence on the defensive line has been crucial to the success of Philadelphia’s defense for years. In terms of James Bradberry, Coach said that he’s been ‘phenomenal’ with two interceptions in his first four games with the Eagles.

From there, Nick praised general manager Howie Roseman and how his support has helped a young head coach learn the best ways to manage a demanding fan base. Sirianni unsurprisingly has remained grateful for those who are around him. To him, 2021 was never a rebuilding year, and he never gave up when his team spent multiple weeks as owners of a sub-.500 record.

Having flowers tossed at him during home games only motivated him. His Western New York roots and time at Mount Union, a small division three school in Ohio, helped forge him. He’s learned to push his team even harder after wins. No one should be shocked that his team keeps improving.
