The Eagles must maintain as much of the veteran leadership as possible (as long as those guys can still play).

There’s an area between the close of the Super Bowl and the legal tampering period where coaches are stripped of the ability to communicate with their players. Heck, some players aren’t even communicating with one another.

With all due respect, it has been somewhat obvious that there was a slight need for some leadership over the past 30 days. If you’re clueless as to what this is referencing, you were probably busy or just don’t own a Twitter account. We’ll leave it at that. Let’s just say that we saw a tad more drama than we’re used to or desirous of seeing.

The past month has taught us something. The Eagles are loaded with good guys. They’re blessed with great character, but they can also morph into some colorful characters as well. They aren’t bad people by any means, but there’s a lot of youth here, and some of the tweets and comments demonstrate that even good guys are sometimes in need of guidance.

Come on. Would any of the ‘drama’ we’ve complained about be taking place if Brian Dawkins was here?

There’s nothing wrong with any of that, but we will say this. Philly and every other NFL franchise are very much aware that Howie MUST construct a roster that has a healthy mix of young guys and veterans. Again, we’ll leave it at that.
