Nick Foles, quarterback

As much as we all love him, Nick Foles has had one of the strangest careers in NFL history. A Super Bowl winner, Saint Nick enjoyed two relatively successful stints in the City of Brotherly Love. He just couldn’t duplicate that winning formula anywhere else.

Gosh, he was good in Philly though. NBC Sports’ Reuben Frank even dubbed him the greatest quarterback in Eagles history once, Heck, some forget that he won with Chip Kelly as his head coach. Do you have any idea how hard that is to do?

Most will remember Nick for going toe to toe with Tom Brady on football’s biggest stage and delivering the first Vince Lombardi Trophy in franchise history to a nation of adoring fans. What some forget, however, is he tied the NFL record for touchdown passes in a game and consecutive completions in a game (25). He also owns the NFL record for playoff career completion percentage: (68.1%).

While we can understand why he isn’t on a roster, we can also argue that he deserves a job somewhere. There are 64 open jobs for a backup or third-string quarterback every season. Nick Foles most certainly deserves one of them.

Jason Peters, offensive lineman

There’s an old saying that states players will retire from the game or the game will retire them if they don’t. Jason Peters appears to be the last person on Planet Earth that doesn’t know that he can’t play anymore.

The time has come. Watching the Eagles great continue his NFL journey has honestly become painful to watch. He deserves his spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He’s one of the greatest players in Philadelphia’s history, but unfortunately, the longer he plays it becomes easier to forget that. He’s no longer adding to his legacy. He’s now subtracting from it.
