8 winners (and 2 losers) for Eagles in Week 6 win over Browns

The Eagles outlast the Browns. Hey, a win is a win, right?

Well, we guaranteed a Philadelphia Eagles victory. The Birds delivered. Sure, we predicted a double-digit victory, and that didn't happen. A win is a win though, right?

The Baltimore Ravens did Philly a solid. A Washington Commanders loss knocks them back down the ladder a rung. Every NFC East team will begin Week 7 with at least two losses on the ledger.

The Birds are right back in this thing!

Just like that, five games are gone. 12 remain on the slate. There's plenty of time for the Birds to gain some momentum. Another win and some good individual performances will help in that regard. Let's hand out a few game balls as we prepare to turn the page to a road game versus the hated New York Giants.

Jalen Hurts (stud)

QB1 protected the football! With some solid and wise decision-making, Philly stamped their first turnover-free game since Week 13 of last season. 15 completions on 24 attempts, 224 yards passing, and two TD tosses highlighted Jalen Hurts' day. He also ran for 36 yards on 11 carries.

AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith (studs)

AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith were on the field together for the first time since Week 1. They picked up where they left off. They combined for eight receptions and 140 yards receiving. Both also reached the end zone on a TD reception.

Grant Calcaterra (stud)

Who had Grant Calcaterra being the second-leading receiver? If you did, give yourself a gold star and move to Vegas and find a job at a Casino.

He did exactly what you'd ask of him, make the most of opportunities. He caught all four of his targets and contributed with 67 yards receiving in Dallas Goedert's absence. It looks like he and Hurts recpatured some chemistry they had at Oklahoma.

Braden Mann (stud)

In a tough, hard-fought affair every yard matters. So does field position. Thank Braden Mann for helping with the latter. He averaged just under 49 yards per boot. We don't often shed a spotlight on punters, but in this case, we'll make an exception.

Cooper DeJean (stud)

Cooper DeJean made his first career start at slot corner, and Philly moved Avonte Maddox to safety. Hmmm... We may be onto something here.

Coop missed a tackle that we remember, but he was mostly solid. He registered six tackles. one half-sack, and 51 yards on four punts. It's good to see him take that next step in his development.

Nolan Smith and Bryce Huff (stud)

They cracked the stat sheet! Nolan Smith and Bryce Huff have been criticized, but some of that can be blamed on mismanagement by the defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Still, it was good to see these two do work.

Three tackles and a sack for Nolan Smith in Week 6. Two tackles and one half-sack for Huff.

Hey... After the start they have had, we'll take it! They earn the stud cap for a week.

Nick Sirianni and Kellen Moore (duds)

We still don't like the coaching. Nick Sirianni is still involved in play calling. He claims to have screwed up a defensive call this time around though he won't tell us which one.

We're more concerned that he's jawing with fans after barely outlasting the Browns. He would eventually clarify things during his press conference. His team told him to be himself, but come on Nick. That's a bit much!

Kellen Moore, you aren't safe either. There were a couple of nice drives there, especially at the end. It was nice to close in the victory formation, but the offensive unit has too much talent to stall as often as it does. We'll give you a pass for now, but we're watching you.
