For all of the drama that surrounded his months-long trade saga, former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown wants to keep things cordial with his former team. He's getting an early opportunity to face off with the Eagles, as his New England Patriots are hosting the Birds for joint practices before their preseason matchup.
When asked about his relationships with his former teammates, Brown didn't want to stir the pot.
He told reporters, "Honestly guys, none of that stuff even matters, man. You all should want to report something positive. You know asking the question is going to turn negative. So let's not get into that. Let's keep everything positive. It's love my way."
Brown told reporters that, while he hasn't talked to Jalen Hurts yet, he may catch up with him during joint practices.
Former Eagles WR A.J. Brown is done with drama after joining the Patriots
It wasn't exactly all love in Brown's final year with Philadelphia. While public comments were few and far between, the star wide receiver was clearly unhappy in Philadelphia. Even though he received more targets per game than he did in 2024, Brown didn't seem to be content with his role in the offense.
His trade to the Patriots felt like a foregone conclusion for months before the deal actually went down. Even the details of the trade were public before he was moved.
Understandably, many Eagles fans soured on the former All-Pro wideout. The trade saga became all-consuming throughout the early portion of the offseason, distracting from anything that the franchise was actually trying to accomplish. By the time that the deal finally went through, fans were just ready to be done with the drama.
Brown is ready to put it all behind him, too. These joint practices could be a hotbed for more tension, but he wants to keep things civil.
Hurts mirrored Brown's sentiments, saying, "I've got a lot of love for him and always have."
To some extent, though, all of this drama exists by Brown's own doing. His discontentment was clear to see throughout the 2025 season, and reports of locker room tension didn't make things any better. While he wasn't the only negative presence in Philly last season, he certainly didn't help team morale.

Even if Brown is ready to put the trade drama behind him, Eagles fans will never pass up the chance to see him get locked down by Quinyon Mitchell.
