The Philadelphia Eagles made some coaching news, even if it doesn't involve the offensive coordinator opening, which is hard to do these days.

It was reported that the Eagles had promoted Joe Kasper from safeties coach to defensive backs coach and defensive pass game coordinator. Those were the same roles Christian Parker had with the Eagles over the last two years before taking the Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator job.

After the report came in that Kasper was promoted, Eagles star cornerback Cooper DeJean, similar to what he did with Parker, reacted on social media. This time, DeJean only needed one emoji to share his thoughts.

Cooper DeJean sends his seal of approval for Joe Kasper's promotion

DeJean joins all Eagles fans in approving the move, as this was an expected outcome. Reports surfaced that Kasper was attracting interest from other NFL teams to be their defensive backs coach, but the Eagles wanted to make sure he didn't leave the building.

Kasper was a defensive quality control coach for the Eagles at the beginning of Nick Sirianni's tenure as head coach in 2021 and 2022, before joining Vic Fangio with the Miami Dolphins as their safeties coach in 2023. After Fangio left Miami and joined Philly in 2024, Kasper followed him to be the safeties coach.

There's no doubt Kasper has some big shoes to fill with Parker out, but should be set up for success with the guys on the team. DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell are coming off All-Pro seasons with the Eagles, with the only concern being who will be the CB2 on the team in 2026.

It's good to see the star cornerback giving his approval of the move as it vindicates that the Eagles got at least one coaching decision correct this offseason.
