Can't be too surprised there.

The Philadelphia Eagles are officially open for business to hire their next offensive coordinator, as they interviewed their first candidate, former Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson.

It's a good first step as the team has several candidates they want to speak with, including Mike McDaniel and Brian Daboll. One question Eagles fans have, though, is who is running the search and making the final decision. The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane shed some light on who is involved and in what capacity.

"This year, they aren’t as far along because the news conference came earlier than two years ago," McLane wrote in his article. "They have also cast a wider net. Roseman will lead the search. Owner Jeffrey Lurie and his son Julian, recently appointed to a formal role within the organization, will also be in the interviews, per a team source. Sirianni will be in the meetings too, but it is apparent that the senior members of the front office will be making the final call.

There don’t appear to be any restrictions, but the Eagles will likely lean toward proven commodities. It has been suggested that they hire an offensive Fangio who no longer has head coaching aspirations because they previously lost Steichen and Moore to promotions."

Eagles making it clear that Nick Sirianni isn't the final decision maker

This is an interesting note from McLane that Sirianni is just in the room and not making the final decision. The guy on the front lines with the coaches and players won't have the final say on who will be running the offense.

Philly is showing that it may not necessarily trust Sirianni to make the right choice. He was the one who promoted Brian Johnson and Kevin Patullo, and those two were one-and-done offensive coordinators.

The Eagles' brass knows this is an important hire and could dictate how next season and beyond go. Another season like last year, and there might be different coaching interviews happening at a higher level.

It's clear the Eagles are looking for the next Kellen Moore to come in, take control of the offense, and run it how they see fit. Sirianni isn't going to be involved with the offense and will let his coordinator handle it.

The 2026 Eagles are going to be run a little differently, with some urgency added to everyone, including Sirianni and whoever the offensive coordinator is.
