7 realistic free agents the Eagles could sign in 2024
The NBA gave us a bad All-Star Game to watch, but the playoffs approach. Those are always fun. The Phillies are back in action. March is upon us, and that comes with guarantees. The 'Madness' is about to begin in college basketball, but for football junkies like us, all we want to discuss is the Philadelphia Eagles, the coming NFL Scouting Combine, the new league year, and, of course, free agency.
We have discussed everything from bargain free agents to guys we fell in love with while watching the Super Bowl. Now, the attention shifts slightly. While none of us are totally certain of what Philly's plans are for the offseason, we still feel confident that we can place a few guys into the category of 'realistic free-agent options'. Let's see if your list looks like ours.
DeShon Elliott, defensive back, Miami Dolphins
So, most of you know the story, right? After one season as the Miami Dolphins' defensive coordinator, Vic Fangio and the Fins agreed to part ways. We knew almost instantly that he'd be the Eagles' new DC. As it turns out, many of Miami's stars apparently threw 'the deuces' up on his way out of the door because they were glad he was gone. Here's the thing though. We have said all of that to say this.
We don't know if DeShon Elliott is one of those guys that had a problem with Vic or not. What we do know is, if he isn't, we'd love to see him trade aqua, blue, and orange for Midnight Green, black, and silver.
He can play in the slot, in the box, and play deep, and that's exactly the type of safety the Philadelphia Eagles need on their roster.
Worth mentioning: Though much of the Eagles fan base and Philly media is in love with Kamren Curl, the near-former Commanders star, his teammate Kendall Fuller might be the better option in free agency. He can play outside, but he also has shown proficiency in playing both in the slot and at safety.
Fuller will probably command a higher price tag than Curl, but both are worth a look as is DeShon Elliott. Here are a handful of other free-agent options worth noting.
