‘Confusion and chaos’ are two great words to describe the Eagles’ defense in Week 17. The linebackers were in constant communication the entire time… and ‘constant’ is being used in about as literal of a sense as possible. It still wasn't enough. Seemingly on every play, by the time the ball was snapped, Philly's second level still didn't know where it should be.

Listen, these guys are clearly leaving much to be desired, but Matt Patricia deserves blame too. His ideas aren't working. Haason Reddick spoke to the media on Thursday, January 4th. He said the confusion came from a combination of changing personnel on the field and the timing of the play calls. He went on to mention that there was a new learning curve because they had gotten used to Desai’s terminology. 

Does that mean Patricia decided to use different terminology this late into the season? Maybe. Maybe not. One thing is for sure though. There wasn’t this much visual disorganization on defense when Desai was talking to the green dot on the field.
