Trusted Eagles Insider believes Fletcher Cox's days in Philly may be numbered

Roob isn't certain that Fletcher Cox's return to the Eagles is likely, even if he decides that he wants to keep playing.

They're known as 'The Core Four': Brandon Graham, Jason Kelce, Fletcher Cox, Lane Johnson. They're four cornerstones of the Philadelphia Eagles and have been for a while. Lane, the fourth overall selection of the 2013 NFL Draft, believe it or not, is the baby of the bunch.

The game's best right tackle was added during the Chip Kelly era and has been here ever since. B.G., Kelce, and Cox have the rare distinction of being the only Birds to play for Andy Reid, Chip, Doug Pederson, and Nick Sirianni. Cool huh?

The NFL is a machine run on moving parts, but there are a few constants. Perhaps the most obvious is the following. There will always be change in every organization.

At the time of this story's release, Johnson is still under contract. We all are still patiently awaiting Jason Kelce's decision, but we know he has a home if he still wants to play. We'll see what happens with Graham.

Fletch's situation is different. He's told us he's mulling retirement, but there's also this feeling that his place on the 2024 Eagles roster isn't certain even if he determines he's returning.

Reuben Frank shares his thoughts on whether or not we should expect to see Fletcher Cox on the 2024 Eagles roster.

If you're up an moving around early enough, tuning in to the 94 WIP Morning Show with Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. EST until 10 a.m. EST is a great way to spend your time.

They recently welcomed someone that we're all a fan of, Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia. What's his opinion on all of this? It didn't take long for Joe and Jon to ask him about his feelings on Fletch's future in Philadelphia. That portion of the discussion lands at about the 4:35 mark.

"That's a tough one. He's not the kind of guy that gives out hometown discounts, and he shouldn't. I mean he was their best defensive player this year which is crazy. But, he was".

Roob continued. "He was their most consistent (player). He was really good. (At the) end of the year, when a lot of guys just stopped fighting, I mean he just kept fighting". I was really impressed with him just as a leader, just as a player. I mean I've always really admired him in the way he goes about his business, but this year, with everything falling apart around him, he did everything humanly possible to keep it together. His influence on the younger guys is immeasurable, (but) I don't know how they could keep him."

Fletcher Cox in another NFL jersey? No Roob! Say it ain't so! "Kelce will never play anywhere else if he plays again. B.G. (Brandon Graham) will never play anywhere else, but I think Fletcher is still really, really good. They've got these younger guys that they've got to play, and they've got to figure that out, again, with new coaches. So, I'd hate to see that guy in another uniform after all he's meant to this franchise, but my guess is he won't be here".

Hmmm... The Core Three? The Core Two? It doesn't quite carry the same ring, does it? We'll have to wait and see what happens, but that was some fascinating stuff from Roob nonetheless.

Give the full discussion below a whirl when you have some time. Roob also weighed in on the Haason Reddick situation (that comes around the 2:50 mark) among other things like Avonte Maddox. All in all, we'd grade his interview with an A+.
