Might familiar surroundings be of some benefit?

Part of Eagles head coach Doug Pederson‘s success was due to his familiarity with Philadelphia. Wilson is not unfamiliar with the city of Philadelphia either. He grew up in ‘The City of Brotherly Love’ and played both his high school and college sports in Pennsylvania.

At East Stroudsburg, he played football and ran track. He competed in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships as a member of the 4×100 relay team that finished second. He also ran the 100 meter relay, and he posted his season best of 11.07 seconds.

Wilson was a three sport athlete at Radnor High School in Wayne, where he played football and basketball, and he ran track. He finished his high school football career with three letters. During his senior year, he played running back and receiver where he totaled 2,000 yards. He was named MVP that season. In track, he ran a 10.9 in the 100 meter dash. He also averaged 15 points a game for the basketball team.

Strength in Numbers

Wilson’s served as a strength coach for the Bonner-Prendergast High School football team in Pennsylvania.

While Wilson hasn’t yet earned the respect of Eagles fans, he’s already gained support from the 55 players on the Bonner-Prendergast football team. Jack Muldoon, the Bonner-Prendergast head football coach, can attest to the team’s excitement.

“Look, they think it’s the coolest thing in the world that a guy that they had a connection with and association with, is one of their coaches, has an opportunity to play for our team,” Muldoon said, “They’re excited about it. It’s fun for us to follow him. We got real excited when we heard he got signed. He’s got 55 kids that are in his corner.”

But don’t just take Muldoon’s word. The kids have proven this to be the case.  A video of them sending Wilson off with the Eagles fight song surfaced shortly before his tryout.

That’s good stuff there.

The Battle Begins

Wilson’s journey is far from over, and his fight for a spot on the 53-man roster is just beginning. He is going to be competing against 11 other receivers on the Eagles roster. But Wilson has proven that he thrives under pressure, and his speed and special team skills could set him apart from the crowd.

So, Eagles fans shouldn’t be surprised if, come the season opener, Wilson is emerging from the tunnel in the team’s Midnight Green uniform.
