Pro Football Hall of Fame seems to have made its call to Eagles icon Jason Kelce already
In some ways, the reality of what just transpired still hasn't set in yet. When the Philadelphia Eagles take the field for their first game of the 2024 NFL regular season, Jason Kelce won't be with them. At the time that this story was written and published, the news was still fresh. He did it! he really did it!
One of the most beloved and decorated players in the history of this great organization has decided to ride off into the sunset. Jason Kelce has decided to think of life after football.
It's too early to talk about Jason Kelce's Pro Football Hall of Fame chances... Or, is it?
The resume is special. Six First-Team All-Pro nods (2017–2019, 2021–2023), seven Pro Bowl nominations (2014, 2016, 2019–2023), and of course, the Super Bowl win. Mr. Kelce has crafted a career that is worthy of Pro Football Hall of Fame consideration, and guess what? It appears the Hall is already considering him.
Sometimes, much can be said even though there aren't a ton of words that are used. Who's ready to hear the phrase 'Jason Kelce... first-ballot Hall of Famer'.
As for now, our thoughts are more current. His captain's patch must now be given to someone else. We doubt his Number 62 jersey will ever be worn again. We expect Cam Jurgens will take over as the anchor of Philly's O-line.
Every year, we have asked ourselves if this will be the offseason that the G.O.A.T. called it a career. Well, that day has come, and strangely, we have learned that we still weren't ready for its arrival, but even though we feel like shedding tears, we can't help but think about the past 13 years and smile.
With the utmost respect, we thank Jason for everything. For the speech at the victory parade after Super Bowl LII... For the Mummer's suit he wore on that day... For just being an ambassador for our Philadelphia Eagles... There will never be another... We trust we'll see him soon. We trust his bust will be carved and placed in Canton, Ohio at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
We were always certain of that statement's accuracy, but this drove it home for us.
